The United Veterans Council of San Diego County, “Voice of Our Veterans”, is an alliance of Veterans and over 200 organizations that are either Congressionally Chartered Veterans Service Organizations or providers of services and support to Veterans.

The UVC is a forum for sharing information and raising ideas that can lead to the betterment of the Veteran community, and is a unified Veterans’ voice of advocacy on legislation, policies, and practices affecting San Diego County Veterans and their families.  UVC is open and inclusive, and its Members and Member Organizations enjoy the opportunity to share the works and rewards of the UVC, without obligation to accept any formal responsibility or allegiance.

Monthly General Session meetings are open to everyone with interest in helping Veterans and their families, including Veterans, elected officials, media and press, and the public, and are held at the Veterans Museum and Memorial Center, 2115 Park Blvd, San Diego.  

2013 Sessions start at 9:30 am on these Saturday dates:    October 26.  November 23.   The December 14 special meeting is at 2:00 pm.

Mission Statement

To improve the climate for and condition of Veterans in San Diego County by:  

(1) communicating information and recommendations pertaining to Veterans’ issues;

(2) publically examining significant Veterans’ issues; (3) relating the records of San Diego County municipalities and elective and appointed officials pertaining to the support of Veterans’ issues; (4) leading non-partisan action toward effecting change in the region in support of Veterans and their families.

 Our Core Strategies in pursuit of our Mission are focused on these Priorities:

Veterans Employment.  Veterans to have access and preference for rewarding jobs.                                                                                      

Veterans Housing & Shelter.   Veterans to be housed or sheltered; not homeless.                                                                                                              

Veterans Enrollment for Services.   Veterans all to be enrolled with the U. S. and California Veterans Departments for receipt of all benefits.   

• To improve support to transitioning service men and women by helping to facilitate attaining worthwhile education and meaningful full employment
• To increase engagement by community leaders and corporate leaders in educational and employment programs and opportunities for Veterans and their families.
• To encourage legislators at all levels to improve employment and educational programs and opportunities for veterans and their family members.
• To inform Veterans, family members, and all County citizens about the symptoms of and treatment opportunities for victims of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder.
• To mobilize Veterans and coordinate their efforts in support of Veterans’ issues and causes.
• To support fund raising efforts in support of selected local Veterans’ issues and causes, including Veterans Stand Down, Veterans Day Parade, and Veterans Seminars and Resource & Job Fairs.
