SAN DIEGO –
Cassidy Turley professionals came together to donate gently used
surf and swim equipment to support the Surf & Swim Rehabilitation Program
that benefits Active Duty Marines who are healing from neurological damage,
post-traumatic stress disorder and the loss of limbs. The program operates out
of the new $38-million Hope and Care Center at Camp Pendleton. Cassidy Turley
partnered with Xterra Wetsuits, INT Softboards and Boardworks SUP to donate 51
wetsuits, 20 surfboards, three stand-up paddles, and various additional surf
and swim equipment to the organization. Cassidy Turley also raised
approximately $1,000 to purchase additional equipment for the program.
“While we have a great new, modern facility, our organization
was lacking the surf and swimming equipment needed to help our wounded soldiers
in their rehabilitation process…,” said Lance Taylor D.P.T., C.S.C.S, Warrior
Athlete Reconditioning Program at Wounded Warrior Battalion-West. “…until Bob
Kuzman came along. We couldn’t believe how eager he and his Cassidy Turley
colleagues were to donate their time, money and supplies to our program. The
generosity of Bob, his friends, family members, clients and colleagues was
insurmountable and unforgettable. We were excited to have Bob and the Cassidy Turley
team deliver the donated equipment directly to the center at Camp Pendleton and
tour it as well.” Bob Kuzman, vice president at Cassidy Turley, and Jill
Cassidy, marketing coordinator at the company, orchestrated the donation
project after Kuzman went surfing with a friend who is a therapist for the Surf
& Swim Rehabilitation Program. “My buddy briefly mentioned the lack of
equipment the organization had and I immediately thought this was a great
opportunity to utilize my surf contacts to give back to the Marines who risk
their lives for our freedom,” said Kuzman. “It was touching to see people from
all walks of life – surfers and non-surfers – step up and help in the donation
process.”
“We could not be more proud of our donation success for the Wounded
Warriors Surf & Swim Rehab Program,” said Dan Broderick, president and CEO
at Cassidy Turley San Diego. “Our local military is so engrained in the fabric
of San Diego. We are honored to be able to help a group of our heroes who have
been injured in the line of duty, working hard and risking everything, so that
we can enjoy our freedom and live in this wonderful country and magnificent
city. Much like our military, we understand what it means to really belong to
our community and the importance of giving back to it as much as we can. We
embody, in everything we do, our Cassidy Turley mantra of ‘Client. Community.
Culture.’ We know we are only as successful as the community we serve and we
aim to be great stewards of that.”
The Wounded Warriors Surf & Swim Rehabilitation Program
donation is part of a continued effort by Cassidy Turley’s Outreach Committee
to utilize the company’s professionals’ combined strengths and resources to
serve the San Diego community through commitment, dedication and awareness.
