Our nonprofit group was started when two strangers, while waiting in line at a local San Diego County pet store, started talking about training Service Dogs for disabled combat veterans of the Iraq and Afghanistan wars.

From that point on, the group was born and began to grow.  From those two people, an Army veteran and a Navy Corpsman, we've grown to provide certified service dogs for several dozen Marine Corps, Navy, and Army combat veterans. Most of the veterans who participate in Sherri's Project have PTSD and/or TBIs, although we assist veterans with physical disabilities as well.  

We specialize in locating and matching suitable dogs, from rescues and Humane Societies across the United States, to combat wounded, disabled, or injured veterans who would benefit from a Service Dog in the San Diego area.  If the veteran already has a dog (a family pet or a dog acquired elsewhere), we can test the dog to see if it would be compatible with the training and life of a service animal.  When the veteran and his prospective service dog have been paired up, they are ready to start training as a service dog team at no cost to the veteran.

We provide personalized training to meet the needs of both the Veteran and their dog during our training sessions. We meet for training in various locations around North County San Diego several times a week.

Sherri Waters is the Founder, President, and CEO of Sherri's Project" Wounded Warrior Pack. She is an Army Veteran. Sherri is a Certified Master Dog Trainer, and has been training dogs since April 2000.
