Run for the Warriors!
The goal of
the Spartyka Wounded Warrior 5K is to raise awareness and show support for the
men and women in the United States Military, and raise funds for our Nation’s
Wounded Warriors.
Spartyka Wounded Warrior 5k
is NOT a timed race. If you register in time you will receive an Event Tshirt
and a Finishers Medal, we will also award the Top 3 Male & Female
Finishers. The event is to Honor those that have paid both the near and
ultimate sacrifice for this great country.
Beginning in
Virginia Beach in 2009, this run/walk is now also held in cities around the
United States and World.

About the Spartyka Wounded Warrior 5K
The Spartyka
Wounded Warrior 5K (SWW5K) is our way to honor and thanks the brave men and
women in the United States Military, while also raising funds to benefit the
Wounded Warrior Project, a national nonprofit organization supporting wounded
veterans.
The Spartyka
Wounded Warrior 5K welcomes runners and walkers (competitive and leisure) of
all ages and anyone with a patriotic spirit who wants to show support for the
troops and veterans who have served our country.
The
inaugural event, held in Virginia Beach in March 2009. The Annual SWW5K –
Virginia Beach has grown to become the “Race Around the World” having hosted
satellite races on the same day at sites around the United States and World,
including New York State, Washington State, and at military bases in the United
Arab Emirates; Rota, Spain; Kuwait; and Afghanistan.
In 2011, we
launched Spartyka Race Team and took the event on the road, hosting the
Spartyka Wounded Warrior 5K in Groton, Connecticut; San Diego, California; and
El Paso, Texas.

is included in the registration fee?

Q I’m
not sure I’m able to run a 5K… Should I participate?A Yes!
The SWW5K welcomes runners and walkers… fast and slow, competitive or
recreational, anyone with a patriotic spirit and desire to support our Nation’s
wounded warriors is welcome!
Q Is
there an age limit for SWW5K participants?
A No;
however, participants under the age of 18 years old will need a guardian’s
permission to participate in the SWW5K.
Q Are
running strollers permitted at the SWW5K?
A This
rule varies by location. As a safety precaution, running strollers and wagons
are generally discouraged at the SWW5K; however, at some sites, where strollers
are permitted, participants may take off after the runners and yield to
other race participants. Please defer to details posted on the registration
page for your location.
Q Will
the SWW5K be canceled if it’s raining?A The Spartyka Wounded
Warrior 5K is a rain or shine event… barring severe weather that would endanger
race participants, we will proceed with events as scheduled.
Q I’ve
registered and cannot make the event… What can I do?
A Unfortunately,
there are no refunds for the SWW5K; however, you may transfer your race
registration to another person, if this is does AT LEAST 10 DAYS before the
scheduled event.
Q What
charities does the SWW5K support?
A The
Spartyka Wounded Warrior Run supports the Wounded Warrior Project and other
nonprofit organizations supporting wounded veterans.

is the Wounded Warrior Project?
A The
mission of the Wounded Warrior Project (WWP) is to honor and empower wounded
warriors by raising awareness and enlist the public’s aid for the needs of
injured service members; helping injured service members aid and assist each
other; and providing unique, direct programs and services to meet the needs of
injured service members. WWP is a registered 501c3 nonprofit organization with
headquarters in Jacksonville, Florida. WWP’s federal ID number for donations is

Q How
can I recommend a Warrior of the Day?A At each Spartyka event,
we strive to recognize a Warrior of the Day… It’s an opportunity for us to say
thank you to a service member injured in battle, and it gives a face and name
to the individuals who are fighting for our freedom daily. It also allows
service members the opportunity to share their experience with our event
participants and guests. If you’d like to recommend a Warrior of the Day for a
future Spartyka event, please contact us.
Q How
can I recommend an Honor and Remember Flag recipient?
A Honor
and Remember is a national remembrance campaign working to establish and
promote a nationally recognized flag that would fly continuously as a visible
reminder to all Americans of the lives lost in defense of our national
freedoms. All Military lives lost not only in action but also in service, from
our nation’s inception. Honor and Remember also strives to put one personalized
Honor and Remember Flag in the hands of immediate families who have lost a
